The period since our last review of investment trust discounts on 22 October has been a pretty good one for investors in investment trusts, with the average discount in the sector narrowing from 3.5% to around 1%. In fact, despite the tumultuous events of 2020, it is now almost as if the year had never happened: the universe entered the year on a discount of 1.5% and ended it on a discount of 1.1%, where it remains as of 07/01/2021.
